The West Michigan Golf Association (WMGA) is a volunteer run organization that has been planning and administering amateur golf tournaments in West Michigan for over 50 years!  Our goal is to bring well-run, highly competitive events to golfers both locally and state-wide.

We hold four “Major” events, two 2-person team events, the season-ending Watermark Cup, and West Michigan District Tournament each year.  Our season-long points system also rewards participation in the local Grand Valley Amateur, Michigan State Amateur (GAM), Michigan Open (PGA), and US Amateur (USGA).   The tournaments run by our organization are as follows:

Majors:  West Michigan Amateur  –  City Match Play  –  Kent County Amateur  –  Grand Rapids City Championship

2-Person Team Events:  Spring Best Ball  –  Fall Scramble / Best Ball

Watermark Cup:  A team competition between Private vs. Public Points Leaders

West Michigan Districts:  A team competition between 6-player teams from regional Private clubs

Our events are all contested over two or three days at scratch (no handicap), however several offer “flights” following the first stroke play round.  There are no membership dues and events are open to players from around the state of Michigan – there are no residency restrictions.  Any questions, please contact us at WMGolfAssoc@gmail.com.
